Transit Oriented Development strategy along the first line of BRT in Abidjan

The implementation of Abidjan’s first mass transit corridor provides a unique opportunity to reshape the city’s urban development, curbing low-density urban sprawl while reducing its significant social and environmental costs. The study identifies a strong necessity for urban renewal which involves the decompartmentalization of the disciplines of traffic, mobility, town planning, land, housing and municipal services. Workshops made it possible to identify and suggest operational tools for realistic urban renewal, particularly adapted to the sub-Saharan context.
