The site has long been physically isolated by the railway infrastructure, a major industrial zone, and the surrounding residential developments. Although located in the immediate vicinity of the station, it remains disconnected from the historic, commercial, and administrative city centre.
The proposed pedestrian footbridge will strengthen links between the site, the station, and the city centre. This intervention should be complemented by a comprehensive network of pedestrian and cycling connections to ensure seamless transversal access to the La Clochette district.
A shared-use parking structure located adjacent to the footbridge will support the mobility needs of the new urban district while serving multiple functions for residents, commuters, and visitors.
